Integrating the Unity Candle into a wedding ceremony is symbolic of the uniting of the two families.

It involves using a small votive candle as a pilot light which is lit before the ceremony starts, two side candles, which are usually tapers, and a pillar candle which serves as the Unity Candle.

Most often, the mothers of the bride and groom are asked light the taper candles from the votive candle and then they both light the main candle together, signifying the union of their two families.

It is performed almost exclusively in an indoor setting as, outdoors, the wind plays havoc with the flames.

There are several places within the wedding where this unity candle ceremony can be fitted.

Contact Lynne or Keith Langille at 613-831-7555 or Keith@ExceptionalCeremonies.com to discuss your ceremony requirements.
