Do you want to save up to $5,000 from the cost of your Destination Wedding as well as have increased "Peace of Mind" in arranging it? Read on!

Although some countries make it very easy to get legally married, many foreign countries, including several Caribbean area countries, especially Spanish speaking ones, have very complex and lengthy requirements that usually make it unnecessarily expensive for Canadians to marry there.

You are faced with a choice of having a symbolic or a legal destination wedding ceremony. It’s important for you as a couple to decide which ceremony best meets your needs.

Increasingly, Canadian couples are choosing to have a small, simple legal marriage in Ottawa usually followed a few days, weeks, or months later by their symbolic show wedding ceremony in their destination resort.

The cons of doing a legal destination wedding are substantial:

  • Need to start paperwork months before your wedding including requirement to submit Single Status Affidavit notarized by a Notary Public or a Commissioner of oaths;
  • Need to pay fees for translation into Spanish of the Single Status Affidavit, Birth Certificate,  Divorce Act and Death Certificate (if widowed), courier fees, legal/judge fees;
  • Legalization of these translated documents by the Consulate of your resorts country;
  • Need for you and your intended witnesses to be at the resort hotel at least 48 hours before the date of the wedding ceremony in order to complete blood tests and travel to the government officies to complete your application for a marriage license;
  • Sacrifice of two days or more of your holiday time to obtain your marriage license;
  • Performance of a standard, impersonal wedding ceremony in Spanish or heavily accented English by an available judge/officiant;
  • Need to be able to reschedule ceremony time due to judge/officiant availabilty;
  • Possible restrictions on specifically where you may hold your wedding ceremony (such as town hall);
  • Cost of translating your marriage certificate into English or French;
  • Potentially more fees to have Canada recognize the marriage;
  • Need to apply  to the original countryif you require extra copies of your marriage certificate;
  • If there is a future divorce, some countries require you return there to process it.

We are experienced in enabling you to have your wedding ceremony conducted anywhere in the world while still offering all of the peace of mind and legal protections that you want and need from having an Ontario registered marriage, all from just $200.

Think about the many benefits of using our Elopement and Destination Wedding Package:

  • no lengthy delays in obtaining your marriage documentation;
  • an Ontario registered marriage with all of your documentation in English or French;
  • no translation or court affidavit fees;
  • complete creative control of your ceremony (no more insert Bride's name here template);
  • totally in English, French or whatever other languages you prefer so that your familes and guests fully understand the ceremony;
  • ability to honour a family member or friend of your choice to co-officiate and lead your ceremony (not some heavily accented person;
  • you decide the contents of your ceremony script and they help you make it personal about the two of you;
  • hold your ceremony where and when you want, for as long as you want;
  • immediate qualification for "honeymoon specials";
  • reduced resort cost of "renewal of vows" packages vs. the more expensive "wedding" packages.

Think about it, you can have your dream ceremony wherever and whenever you want instead of being told where, when, and how long by some impersonal agency.

Better yet, is that your Ontario marriage license costs generally one-half to one-third of what it does in the most popular foreign destinations and you can get it in a fraction of the time and documentation required elsewhere. Even more attractive is the fact that you will not have to pay the usually hefty charges for one of their impersonal cookie cutter ceremonies in which you have limited input.

One couple recently chose to have us perform a small Ontario ceremony prior to joining all of their wedding guests in the Dominican Republic for a larger more elaborate ceremony and celebration. They avoided complicated documentation issues in the Dominican Republic. They didn't have to endure a dull ceremony in Spanish that nobody would have understood. And they really saved substantially on the cost of a Dominican Republic officiant, legal, notarization, and translation fees as well as the lofty Dominican Republic marriage license costs. They estimated that their total savings were about $5,000 by having a simple marriage legalization done here with us.

No matter where you live in Canada or wherever in Ontario you obtain your marriage licence, we can help you execute the ceremony of your dreams while saving incredibly. Ask us how we can help you pocket all of the savings! Our Elopement and Destination Wedding Packages start at $200. And, if you wish, no one else needs to know that you really got married here in Ontario. We can provide both of your witnesses!

We can also design this destination ceremony package to enable you to experience a Symbolic Wedding ceremony customized for you with all the creative control that is not offered and available to you from the resorts. Again, you'll save substantially over their expensive impersonal wedding packages and have a superior result.

If this looks good or sounds great please contact us (Lynne or Keith) using the automated form, by phone at 613-831-7555 or by email at Keith@ExceptionalCeremonies.com) so that we discuss and focus upon a ceremony solution that fits your budget.

We're usually around most days and evenings.
